Denford Limited - A traditionally based ‘UK Manufacturer’ of CAD/CAM machines and technology.
Denford Ltd has a proud tradition as a British based manufacturer. Denford are steeped in the tradition of engineering and the manufacture of CNC machine tools.
"Denford Small Tools" was founded in Brighouse by Horace Denford in the years before World War Two. The company manufactured a range of engineering inspection and measuring equipment and tool holders.
Denford moved part of their manufacturing operation to Box Tree Mills in Wheatley, Halifax, in the closing years of the war. Having set up in the “Box Mill” plant, a new company named "Denford Machine Tools" was created, and manufacture started of two small precision bench lathes branded "Box-Ford". These machines were offered for sale at a suggested price of around £175, and had a production run in excess of 400 units!
In 1952 Denford moved their manufacturing operation to Brighouse (the site that Denford Ltd occupies today), and by the end of the 1950’s, Denford were manufacturing a variety of metal and wood turning lathes, tool sharpening equipment, grinders and polishers.
In recent times, Denford have expanded their product range to include the design and manufacture of a comprehensive range of CNC mills, lathes and routers that have been specifically designed for education. The machines are a familiar fixture in Design and Technology laboratories around the world.
As for the future, Denford continue to focus on the education market, and invest in their manufacturing facilities. They have recently installed a new production line, and trained their manufacturing staff (skilled fitters, skilled electricians and design engineers) in ‘Workplace Manufacturing and Quality Strategies’ such as ‘Kaizen’ and ‘5S’.
New product development continues as a key strategy for Denford Ltd, and as confirmation of this, Denford recently launched their new VMC 1300 3 Axis CNC Milling machine and PCB / Engraver, keeping their traditions of design and manufacture firmly based in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.
